Keyman Configuration - Languages Tab

This tab lists all the installed Windows languages, and the Keyman Desktop keyboard associated with each one. From this tab you can choose to activate a specific keyboard whenever any given Windows language is selected.

Note

The Languages tab is only available in Professional and Corporate Editions.

Associating a keyboard with a language is helpful for a number of reasons:

Select a keyboard for a language

  1. To select a keyboard for a language, click in the dropdown box in the Keyman Keyboard column.

  2. Click OK to save changes.

Install a language (Windows XP)

For many Keyman keyboards, it is important to select your base keyboard when adding a language in Control Panel. This allows the Keyman keyboard to detect the appropriate layout for your hardware keyboard. For instance, if you were adding an Arabic keyboard on a computer with a US English keyboard, you would select the Arabic language in Regional and Language Options, but select a US keyboard for that language. Finally, you would then associate the Keyman keyboard with this US English keyboard using the Languages tab in Keyman Configuration.

  1. Open the Control Panel.

  2. Select Regional and Language Options.

  3. Select the Languages tab.

  4. Click on the Details button.

  5. Click on the Add button.

  6. From the Input language list select the language to be installed.

  7. Click OK.

Install a language (Windows Vista)

  1. Open the Control Panel.

  2. Under Clock, Language and Region, select "Change keyboards or other input methods".

  3. Click Change Keyboards.

  4. Click on the Add button.

  5. From the Input language list select the language to be installed.

  6. Click OK.
